This year's annual Least of These Ministries Summer Banquet was an amazing event, held once again at Calvary Church, on Landis Valley Road, Lancaster.
Our Executive Director Dale Long welcomed our special attendees. He said that there was a special attendee beside each one of us.
Our featured speaker was Sean Christensen who served many years in Haiti, and is very knowledgeable about the Christian church in Haiti. He explained that Radio Lumiere provides reassurance to its listeners who live in fear of gangs, have lost homes, and have suffered personal losses. In addition he stated that Radio Lumiere was instrumental in the early development of the Christian church in Haiti. This kind of growth was unique to Haiti and no other country in the French-speaking world has experienced such growth. We are talking about millions of people who have come to know Jesus because of Radio Lumiere!
LOTM Executive Director Dale Long also gave an update of our projects and a passionate presentation about the victims of gang violence. This has been a terrible problem; over 500,000 people have lost their homes including some staff and friends of Radio Lumiere. It is hard for us to understand how deeply the gangs have impacted life in Haiti and the terrible things that they have done. LOTM has responded with our Victims of Gang Violence program to help relieve some of the suffering.
We had a good turnout for our event. Our donors were generous, raising $20,000 and matching what we raised last year!
Our Board has concluded that despite the violence, unrest, and food insecurity, these last few years have been some of the most successful years for Radio Lumiere and our special projects in Haiti, despite our having reduced our physical presence in-country.
Thanks to God for the funding support that we have been able to provide to RL and the MEBSH Church Conference for various initiatives and projects.
It is because of your faithfulness and generosity that we are able to do the work that we do. As always, we are thankful and grateful to God for you!
